The Davis Chorale values access, diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are also committed to enhancing the extent to which our audience feels welcomed, respected, and engaged in sharing beautiful music. We strive for and celebrate diversity in our membership, audience, and repertoire. We believe that every person should be heard and respected. It is important that both chorale and community members have confidence in the process for addressing concerns about equity, access, and inclusion. To that end we commit to the following:

• Diversifying our repertoire in terms of culture of origin, religious perspective, and composer’s background.

• Clarifying and communicating expectations regarding respectful and inclusive culture within the choir and extended community as well as by developing multiple pathways to address inequities or potentially hurtful comments or actions.

• Educating ourselves and our audiences about the historical and cultural context relevant to the diverse music we are learning and performing.

• Striving for a membership that fully represents Davis and surrounding communities.

• Developing skill and appreciation of languages, movement, rhythm, and other aspects of diverse musical cultures

• Collaborating with groups from different areas and traditions to develop partnerships and create learning and performance opportunities.

• Reassessing our Equity Statement regularly and holding ourselves accountable for continual improvement in these areas.
